Unit 6 Loving-Kindness

Hello Everyone,

This exercise was meant to expand our mind and our hearts and it can aid in treating anger and hatred that one might feel towards another. This exercise was interesting but I liked it because it makes you think of others and not yourself. Our focus was to go from personal love to universal loving-kindness. Four sentences had to be repeated for ten minutes but within these ten minutes it enabled me to see that I was opening my heart to a bigger picture. I always wish the best for others but not everyday for ten minutes this makes me fully forgive and even let go of what might be hurting me or who ever has angered me. This was a great exercise and I truly liked it just like I liked the last one.

  1. Shana,

There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to actually make ourselves sit quietly and calm our minds and think of others suffering or happiness. This exercise is a good example of how to put our own thoughts aside, and clear the mind to feel a connection for all people. If everyone one could just find a few minutes daily to practice sharing this mindful energy for othes well-being, I feel the world would be more kind and there would be less suffering and more genuine happiness. This in turn would promote human consciousness for sharing integral health practices.

    Be Well,

  2. Hello Shana,
I also liked this exercise in terms of giving us an opportunity to think of others and like you said, see a bigger picture. I think we all can find an inner peace when we put others before ourselves and do things for others, even if it is a small act of kindness. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can mean the world to another person. Achieving a universal loving-kindness can be a hard task if we are not open to the experience. I think this exercise gave us that opportunity!

  3. Shana,
I definitely agree that this was a great exercise because it really focused on sending positive energy into the world. If you send out love and kindness, you will receive it in return. Forgiveness is a difficult thing, and its really wonderful that you were able to achieve it. I have found that forgiveness doesn't always come easily to me, especially when I have been hurt deeply. However, once I do achieve forgiveness, I always feel a lot better and am able to move on with my life.

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. I agree I enjoyed this unit! It's nice to set things aside and think of wrong that I could be doing to someone else and how I can fix it.
